CMS Derks Star Busmann has advised renewable energy company Econcern on the agreement it has concluded with its participating interest Waterland on participation in BioMCN in Delfzijl. Econcern also represents the interests of shareholders NOM and Renijn.

This investment of € 36 million by Waterland Private Equity means that BioMCN is now able to invest further in the construction of systems for the production of biomethanol in the world's largest second-generation biofuels plant. The first biomethanol production line in Delfzijl has a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum and will begin production on schedule in April this year. Thanks to this investment, BioMcN can start straight away on expanding the plant, doubling the capacity to 400,000 tonnes in 2010 and increasing it subsquently to a maximum of 800,000 tonnes.

CMS, led by Mark Ziekman, advised Econcern. Martijn van de Bie, Bob van Zijl, Reinout Slot and Laurens Dalmijn were also involved in the case.
